Today is that day. Today at 4 p.m. (IST) the Mahindra XUV700 will finally celebrate its world premiere. Just one day before India’s 75th Independence Day. Marking a generation change from the original XUV500, the XUV700 has long been expected and will be available this festive season as the action intensifies in the three-row SUV room.

Spy image leaked a few days ago I have confirmed that the Mahindra XUV700 is picking up from where the last XUV500 left off. It features a similar square grille with vertical chrome accents and angled LED headlights, an exaggerated take on the fan-shaped extension typical of the XUV500. The blinking door handle is segment-first and the SUV seems to have 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the sloping motif follows the rear with a complete LED taillight, and the pillars filled with black create a floating roof effect.

Mahindra also previously revealed some key details about the interior and equipment list of the Mahindra XUV700, including a fairly clean look to the dashboard. The highlight here is the twin-screen layout, which is reminiscent of a modern Mercedes. There is a fully digitized instrument cluster, a bespoke 3D sound system from Sony, with a touchscreen unit running a new operating system that Mahindra calls “Adreno X”. The system integrates Alexa-based voice commands with the “Zip”, “Zap” and “Zoom” driving modes (only for Diesel XUV700).

Other features such as a large panoramic sliding roof, driver drowsiness warning, air filter and individual safety instructions are already known. The XUV700 will also be equipped with certain Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

This Mahindra XUV700 is based on a new monocoque architecture. The SUV will be equipped with the same engine that debuted in the second generation of Mahindra Thar, but in a different tuning state. About 190 hp, about 350 Nm 2.0 liter Hengst turbo gasoline engine and 2.2 liter m Hawk. Diesel with a torque of over 400 Nm and just under 190 hp. Both engines can be supplied with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic torque converter. Mahindra has also confirmed that the AWD system will be available as an option.

Mahindra XUV700 uses Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar. The price of the Mahindra XUV700 is expected to be in the range of 160,000 to 230,000 rupees (in front of the showroom).
