You have probably been wondering what we plan on doing with the twenty first-editions of The Beeple 20 Collection artworks we purchased for $2.2 million in December. And you probably have been wondering why we keep expressing the need for people to create art for all, in the public — not hide it away in vaults. You have waited long enough for the answer. And we’re too excited to keep it to ourselves any longer!
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, we will be launching the most epic cultural project and event to happen in the metaverse to date: B.20 (website coming soon) and its launch festival, Metapalooza.
Metapurse’s mission is to democratize access and ownership to highly sought-after artwork and accelerate the cultural Renaissance that is happening within the metaverse. We believe we truly achieved this with B.20 — the name of a massive NFT bundle we are fractionalizing so that everyone can have ownership over the first large scale public art project within the metaverse. It is important to note that we’re fractionalizing ownership, not the assets themselves. These fractions will be available as 1.6 million B.20 tokens, and can be referred to as the “keys” to this digital vault.
An Epic Bundle: The Art & The Build
The B.20 bundle is made up of a multitude of different NFTs.
Of course, it is anchored by the twenty 1/1 Beeple artworks that Metapurse acquired in December for roughly $2.2 million in a record-breaking auction.
But we also did something unexpected. Because we feel that the Beeple drop was such a significant event in the history of crypto art (and for the metaverse more broadly), we decided to create the metaverses’ first large-scale public art installation in the form of three virtual museums built in Cryptovoxels, Somnium Space, and Decentraland, all built by the legendary metaverse architecture firm, Voxel Architects.
The Beeple artwork will be beautifully displayed across all three unique, yet cohesive museums, which have themselves become works of art. These incredible parcels of land and their stunning builds will be packaged into the B.20 bundle.
There will be 1.6 million B.20 tokens available for purchase at $0.36 per token in the public sale on WhaleStreet.xyz, starting on January 23 at 6am CST.
All in, Metapurse has spent at least $2.5m on this project and event, but to us, that is a bargain for owning and sharing a piece of metaverse history.
Metapalooza — A virtual festival and B.20 launch party, celebrating metaverse art, music, and culture
To celebrate the B.20 token launch on January 23, Metapurse is hosting Metapalooza — the first ever public and free cultural festival across Cryptovoxels, Somnium Space, and Decentraland. The event will take place on Saturday, January 23rd from 6:00–7:30 pm CST, and excitingly will feature a live virtual performance from epic American DJ and electronic dance music producer 3LAU, who has performanced at some of the most popular music festivals around the world. Rock your best wearables, and get ready to virtually jam out with the entire community.
Metapalooza will also host amazing speakers like Jason Bailey, Duncan Cock Foster, and the legend and artist himself, Beeple. While the event will take place in different virtual worlds, the audio will be anchored in a Discord server (TBA). With a festival of this scale open to all, Metapurse aims to create a symbolic event that will celebrate metaverse art, music, and culture. Be sure you RSVP and are subscribed to our Substack to get important event notifications and updates.
We want to change the game. We were inspired by the idea of not only being able to own historic artwork, like the Mona Lisa, but also being able to own the museum it was displayed in, and then sharing that ownership and experience with the public. That is the purpose of B.20.
Making money with art is fairly simple and not very imaginative. What we want to do is to decentralize and democratize art — so token holders everywhere can share in a valuable piece of history and, in the process, create wealth for the entire community. Metapalooza is another way to celebrate and share the art with the community.
We hope you will join us for this epic event. See you in the metaverse.
