RITs College of Engineering recently announced a name change for the Faculty of Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering. The new name is that Department of electrical engineering and information technology, and better reflects advances in the communications networking industry.
The department will consist of two undergraduate courses:Computer technology and Electrical engineering– and a graduate school –Communication networks. It will continue to offer dual and accelerated options.
These changes have come about through the college’s expanded courses and research initiatives that include photonics and optoelectronics, smart buildings, infrastructure and transportation, and wireless communications, and will prepare graduates for careers in these growing areas.
