SEATTLE, September 22, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Climate Pledge Arena today announced the use of Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology with Amazon One to make the arena shopping experience more efficient and reduce waiting times so guests can get back to the action faster. The four food and beverage stores equipped with Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One will open with the opening of the arena in October.
Guests visiting the four Just Walk Out-enabled stores in the Climate Pledge Arena can insert their credit card at the on-site gates to shop or hold their palm over an Amazon One device to enter. Once inside, guests can take whatever they want and just leave after shopping. As they shop, Just Walk Out technology determines what to take off the shelves or return, and the credit card they have inserted or linked to their Amazon One ID is charged for items they leave after they leave the store have taken. The first time a guest uses Amazon One’s palm recognition service, they can log into one of Amazon One’s registration kiosks located near the technology-enabled Just Walk Out stores in the main and upper halls of the arena in less than a minute.
“For us, the fan experience at the Climate Pledge Arena is paramount; we want it to be easy, safe and fast for every guest,” said Todd Humphrey, SVP of Digital Fan Experience for the Seattle Kraken. “We are excited to be working with Amazon to use their breakthrough technology to make it so easy to move the palm of your hand, take an item off the shelf, and make your purchase.”
The technology-enabled Just Walk Out stores sell beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee, water and food from The Climate Collective, the arena’s unique food and drink program. Guests purchasing alcohol must show their ID to a store clerk for age verification.
“We are excited to be working with Climate Pledge Arena to enable guests to shop quickly and easily while enjoying a concert or game in the new arena Seattlethat uses a combination of Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One, “said Dilip Kumar, Vice President of Physical Retail & Technology at Amazon. “Our physical retail technologies are designed to take the strain off customers shopping, and we’re excited that the Climate Pledge Arena is offering their guests cashier-free experiences so they can get what they need quickly and get back to their event.”
