College approves construction manager for new science and technology center

the Carl Sandburg College The Board of Trustees approved the selection of a site manager to lead his most significant project since the main campus was first built.

In the regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, Construction of the river city East Peoria was admitted to the college’s construction manager for a one-year term, with the option of four one-year extensions.

The company has previously worked with several other higher education institutions on the construction of new scientific buildings – including Illinois College, University of Southern Illinois and the University of Missouri.

River City Construction will “lead the construction of upcoming capital projects at the college, highlighted by a new science and technology center that would act as the centerpiece of the campus, “said a press release, adding that” the two-story building would offer views of Lake Storey on the main campus alongside a new, state-of-the-art building, and provides a central location for the offices of the classrooms Sandburg Student Union. “

In addition, the board decided the following in the meeting on Thursday:

  • Appointment of Veronica Thor as director of the International Student Union on January 1st.
  • Employment of Wanhoe Kim as a data and information specialist effective January 1st.
  • Hiring of Kirk Watson as Test Center Coordinator January 1st
  • Robert Crawley resigns as Academic Support Services / Americans with Disabilities Act & Section 504 Coordinator effective November 26th.
  • Resignation of Kris Gray as Dean of Health Professions with effect from December 31.
  • Emily Webel resigns as Executive Director of Advancement effective December 3rd.
  • Extension of Troy Chansler’s unpaid leave of absence effective December 2nd through January 11th.

The next scheduled board meeting is on Thursday, January 27th at 7pm.
