ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – – The Tampa Bay area could be the next big tech hub, according to a technology education company moving its headquarters to St. Petersburg.
Canadian company CodeBoxx wants to be the catalyst for a tech boom in the region. It offers bootcamp training for anyone interested in becoming a software developer. The program only lasts 16 weeks.
Students pay a deposit that they can get back after completing the course. Otherwise, no classes are required until the student has completed the course and got a job.
CodeBoxx guarantees that students will find work when they are done.
The company aims to alleviate the technical shortage and bring in a variety of technical talent as more businesses move to the Tampa Bay area.
The new facility is located in the Thrive DTSP building on 4th Street North in St. Pete. A formal cutting of the ribbons is scheduled for Wednesday May 19th.
