Florida International University opened the Trimble Technology Lab with an opening ceremony at the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability.

As a partnership between the FIU and Trimble, the laboratory provides FIU students with hands-on experience with a wide range of Trimble technologies. It also expands the university’s access and expertise in project management, appraisal, architectural modeling and design, structural analysis and design, mechanical electrical installation design and appraisal (MEP), mixed reality and office-to-field solutions.

“We are very excited to partner with Trimble and to host this event to commemorate it,” said Jose Faria, chairman of the Moss Department of Construction Management, in a prepared statement. “The laboratory will help build the university’s leadership and excellence in education and research in engineering, construction and the sustainably built environment.”

Partnering with Trimble enables the FIU to incorporate the latest technology into their curriculum and research, and enables graduates to transform the way buildings and homes are designed and built around the world, according to the university

“The Moss Department of Construction Management has grown to be a top construction management school in the state and one of the best in the country,” said John Volakis, dean of the College of Engineering and Computing. “With all of the growth in college, the Trimble donation comes at a opportune time to help us take even bigger steps.”
