Shut down Windows 11 from the start menu

This is the easiest way and the one that everyone uses to shut down Windows, a method that doesn’t have many secrets and that everyone with Windows uses on a daily basis.

This type of shutdown via the graphical interface anchored in the start menu is available from Windows 95 and acts as a lock for all programs and applications that we have in Windows.

It is very easy to use:

We click on the Start menu icon from the system tray. From there we choose that Power button in the lower left corner. now click Turn Off in the list of available options.

As you can see, you can click Restartwhich means the computer will shut down but automatically turn on again.

We also have the option Dismisswhich means that the PC goes into a kind of stand-by so that the moment we move the mouse it goes back to the same place we left it, i.e. it doesn’t turn off completely.

Shut down Windows 11 using the power button

Of course we have our own available physical on / off button of the computer that was created for it.

Depending on the type of computer, pressing this button once while the PC is on may cause the PC to go into sleep mode instead of turning it off. That means, if we want to turn the device off completely, we have to Press the power button continuously until we see that the PC is no longer active.

This type of shutdown is called forcedIn other words, it’s not like Windows managing the entire system so it doesn’t suffer when the computer is turned off. With this system, the PC suddenly shuts down, which can damage the operating system or the hard drive, so regular use is not recommended.

Also, don’t think that it will turn itself off just like that, as we can even use an instruction to program when we want to turn it off.

The first thing we have to do is click on the magnifying glass that we have on the Windows 11 system tray, then put the command prompt in the area where we can write.

When we see it on the screen, we just have to click on its icon.

Now that we are on the command line, all we have to do is write Shutdown / sy and press Inputso we can see how it’s doing us You are about to sign out. This will shut down the computer in a few seconds.

If we want to program the shutdown, we have to write shutdown -s -t and then the time we want to happen before the system shuts down in seconds to finally push Input. That is, if we want the computer to stop working within an hour, we should shutdown -s -t 3600. to write

Some of the ones we can use are:

RTG Ninja Shutdown: It has a user interface similar to the previous option, although it is in English. It is extremely easy to configure and can not only shut down the computer, but also restart or stop it. Simple automatic shutdown: With this tool we can also shut down Windows, restart or log off and do everything automatically. It’s very simple, in English, and we can add a warning text too.
