KADIMA, Israel – (BUSINESS WIRE) – 03. August 2021–
IDE water technologies, a global leader in water treatment solutions, has signed a contract with ENEL Generación Chile SA to demonstrate the company’s MAXH 2 O desalter solution at ENEL’s San Isidro power plant.
The scope of the ENEL Generación Chile SA San Isidro power plant project includes the manufacture, installation and operation of a fully advanced demonstration treatment unit that implements IDE’s MAXH 2 O Desalter technology. This unit will use commercial size membrane elements and will be shipped to Chile to be installed and operated by IDE in conjunction with a local subcontractor. IDE believes that blowing off cooling towers is a challenge for many industries in general, and power plants in particular. By introducing IDE’s MAXH 2 O technology for this industrial application, much of the blowdown from the cooling tower can be minimized and reused, providing an economical and sustainable solution.
“From the beginning we were impressed by IDE’s MAXH 2 O technology and interested in further investigating the applicability and performance of the complex requirements of our power plants to minimize cooling towers,” said Daniela Galla, Innovation Manager, Innovation Global Power Generation, ENEL . “As one of the largest power and energy companies in the world, we are constantly striving to be more sustainable in our practices and have full faith in IDE’s technology to help us achieve this goal.”
IDE’s MAXH 2 O Desalter works by recirculating treated water through the reverse osmosis system and a fluidized bed pellet reactor at high speed, continuously precipitating supersaturated salts from the recirculated brine. The solution offers high recovery rates and flexibility without endangering the service life of the membranes, which is reflected in the system’s low investment and operating costs.
“We are pleased to have been selected by ENEL Generación to provide our MAXH 2 O Desalter technology for their power plant in San Isidro, and to have the opportunity to commission a first demonstration plant of this type for a plant of this size”, said Matan Alper, Head of Industrial Water Business Development, IDE Water Technologies. “We are working hard on this installation and look forward to the positive effects of IDE’s innovative water technologies on the sustainability of the facility in the years to come.”
