Kerala Startup Mission organises ‘Technology Conclave’ on May 11

The Kerala Startup Mission is organizing an online summit on May 11 to celebrate National Technology Day with the aim of translating innovative research knowledge in research laboratories into economically viable products and services.

The Technology Conclave, taking place on Tuesday under the auspices of RINK (Research Innovation Network Kerala), aims to provide companies with recipes that can thrive in the crisis triggered by a second wave of Covid-19.

Organizers said the event will be convened in partnership with TiE Kerala to advance RINK’s efforts to build the state as an innovation-driven economy. It does this with a network of research institutions, proactive government policies, specialized universities and availability of talent, startup culture and pool of investors.

The climax of the conclave will be a panel discussion entitled “Research & Innovation – A Catalyst for Sustainable Growth”. The speakers are the entrepreneur C Balagopal, Prahlad Vadakkepat from the National University of Singapore and the Volvo Director (Innovation) Sudeendra Koushik. Rajesh Nair from Ernst and Young will moderate.

The conference will present 20 curated products from selected research institutions. This gives companies, start-ups and MSMEs the opportunity to learn more about the latest research products in frontier technological areas that have been developed in the country’s leading research institutions. The session also aims to initiate a partnership with innovators to commercialize such products.

The virtual meeting will also be attended by experts and professionals from leading research institutions such as C-DAC (Center for Advanced Computer Development) and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Indian Council for Agricultural Research. Indian Institute for Spice Research, Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science and Technology.

With the meeting, RINK would like to stimulate economic growth in order to give stakeholders from various industrial segments the opportunity to work together and create interdisciplinary excellence.
