Mazak’s DISCOVER 2021 technology and educational event, held October 25-29 at the company’s manufacturing campus in Florence, will attract hundreds of North American manufacturers desperate for new technologies that will enable them to step with continued consumer demand to keep.
This year’s DISCOVER events promise brand new machines and technological innovations from Fewer.
In addition to seminars on current production topics, guided tours through the Mazak iSMART Factory ™ and personal discussions with application experts, DISCOVER 2021 offers visitors live demonstrations and presented technologies in four action areas.
Each will address unique challenges faced by today’s manufacturers and provide solutions to address them. These solutions include those that maximize the high production of small precision parts, ensure cost-effectiveness in the workshop, optimize workflow and help retain qualified employees through technical training as part of Mazak’s customer support program.
On the advanced machining side, the participants of DISCOVER 2021 experience machine technologies that increase their efficiency, productivity and their competitive advantage. In response to customer demand for new and advanced manufacturing equipment, DISCOVER 2021 offers 20 innovative machining systems – many designed and built in Kentucky – including some that are completely new to the industry or making their personal debut in North America.
In order to offer contract manufacturers reliable, maximum machine tool performance with a lower capital investment, Mazak will present several models of its new Ez series of horizontal lathes and vertical machining centers at DISCOVER 2021. Developed and built in Kentucky, the Ez machines feature the company’s new MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC and are optimized for ease of use and quick and easy installation. The machines offer improved ergonomics, stable and reliable parts processing and long-term reliability.
The DISCOVER event will also showcase the latest NEO versions of the popular HCN series of horizontal machining centers and the VARIAXIS series of vertical machining centers from Mazak, including the HCN-6800 NEO and VARIAXIS i-800 NEO. Each features a completely redesigned chassis, premium standard and optional equipment, and enhancements to provide fast, optimal solutions for an even wider range of part production applications.
The HCN-6800 NEO has received numerous upgrades that take the performance of the previous generation to a new level of efficiency and ease of use. The standard spindle, table and magazine have all been significantly improved, including an improved, new standard drum magazine with 43 tools that reduces tool change times.
A redesigned ATC door is servo controlled and faster, and the new design will now accommodate a longer tooling too. The machine has a hydraulic / motorized pallet changer mechanism and an easily accessible maintenance panel for easy maintenance. As an option, Mazak offers a directly driven motor table, which guarantees the fastest indexing time in its class and, thanks to rotary dials, high-precision positioning.
As an improved version of the next generation, Mazak’s popular VARIAXIS i-800 NEO 5-axis machine offers faster rapid traverses for shorter machining cycle times, expanded workpiece capacities and more automation options. Automation options include a dual pallet changer, the compact multi-pallet storage system Mazak Multi-Pallet Pool (MPP) and the modular Mazak PALLETECH system.
The VARIAXIS i-800 NEO is equipped with the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC and the HCN-6800 NEO with the MAZATROL SmoothG CNC, both of which contain Mazak’s Thermal Shield functionality. This advanced system uses machine learning and modeling to immediately compensate for changes in machine and ambient temperature during operation, thus ensuring the highest accuracy even with long machining cycles.
During DISCOVER, Mazak will also demonstrate several new machines that further advance its multi-tasking technology, including the company’s new INTEGREX iH series. These highly productive machines increase flexibility and performance for significantly easier automation integration, so that workshops can increase the performance of their existing workforce with maximum cost efficiency.
The most modern processing systems are only as good as the service and support that supports them. At DISCOVER 2021, attendees will learn more about Mazak’s new service portal, which further enhances the most comprehensive and robust customer care program in the industry. When workshops need machine service, they can open a work order via the portal, be notified immediately when a service technician is available, or solve the problem by telephone with technical support. As soon as a personal service call is planned, workshops can track the status of an existing work order or the arrival of a service technician.
