New E-Paper ESL powered by perovskite solar technology launched

E-paper is already known for its extreme energy efficiency, although Poland-based perovskite solar developer Saule Technologies seems to have found a way to take things to a new level. According to the company, they developed the technology to integrate electronic e-paper shelf labels with perovskite solar panels, making them unique in the world. The company also added that the new electronic e-paper shelf labels use a 2-color or 3-color e-ink panel.

The integration of perovskite solar modules can be seen as special when you consider that such modules offer high efficiency even with artificial light or indirect lighting conditions indoors, in contrast to most other solar modules, which only function optimally in direct sunlight. In this way, the perovskite solar modules are perfect for electronic shelf labels that are used in warehouses or shopping centers.

While the ESLs are seldom exposed to direct sunlight, they can still be operated with the built-in perovskite solar modules thanks to the existing interior light. This means that each ESL is self-sufficient and can be operated independently without an external power supply. The PESLs are also available in a variety of shapes and sizes ranging from 1.54 “to 12.5” displays.

In the meantime, Sulate Technologies also said they wanted to offer complete hardware and software systems, along with all of the associated things that help the PESL to work. This includes data relays as well as cloud computing and analysis functions. In this way, companies adopting the PESL receive a single window solution for their ESL requirements.
