NASA uses AI technologies from Silicon Valley giants to improve the aviation industry
NASA has started promoting AI technologies from several Silicon Valley technology giants like Google, IBM, and Intel to further advance space exploration. NASA is focused on scaling up the stakes to study and explore more about life in space with artificial intelligence in the near future. The use of artificial intelligence can provide some amazing unknown data for an accurate prediction of the behavior of the universe. NASA can take advantage of some intelligent features like image recognition and many more through future telescopes and observatories. The technology giants from Silicon Valley are known worldwide for their constant innovation in the field of artificial intelligence to improve the traditional work system efficiently and effectively. Therefore, NASA is working with these renowned companies to apply advanced machine learning algorithms to solve complex universal problems.
NASA owns a Frontier Development Lab to innovate new cutting edge AI technologies by bringing science and computer science students together with professional innovators from pioneering technology companies. Google, Intel, and IBM contribute multiple combinations of hardware, technical resources, funding, and machine learning algorithms to identify asteroids, planets, or other unusual activity in the universe. An FDL team has already developed AI technology to study the atmospheres of exoplanets.
With neural networks from the Google Cloud, Google has helped to solve complex problems within a short period of time. Another team built an AI technology that creates 3D models of asteroids with precise shapes, sizes, and other detailed information. This helped NASA understand the behavior of asteroids towards Earth. Google has completed eight projects using artificial intelligence for NASA productivity.
IBM, SETI and Lockheed Martin helped NASA develop an AI technology to fill in the missing data from a defective sensor. This sensor no longer provided important real-time data on EUV radiation. This allows IBM’s computer program to analyze data from other SDO instruments to efficiently capture EUV radiation levels.
NASA also worked with Microsoft to develop software known as OnSight, which enables scientists to work in a virtual model on Mars. It uses real rover data to build a virtual environment of Mars for further exploration.
Safari offered Secure Coding and Coding Standards training for NASA space and ground systems developers to navigate books and video courses on implementing AI technologies in developing secure software systems in the Safari library.
NASA has selected SpaceX, Blue Origin and Lockheed Martin to improve the operation of spacecraft at very high temperatures to land spacecraft vertically on the moon. Blue Origin is working on the development of a navigation system with AI technology for safe and precise landing at certain locations. SpaceX is focused on AI technology to safely move rocket fuel from vehicle to vehicle in orbit.
The rapid breakthroughs in artificial intelligence have made it possible for data science to understand space using satellite data and advanced computer simulations. These machine learning algorithms help astronauts carry out successful space missions within a limited period of time. With the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in NASA’s traditional systems, the vast range of space can easily be studied and observed. Artificial intelligence and robotics can work together to build numerous robots to help NASA easily explore space by avoiding space debris without human intervention.
