Scholarship support for Pennsylvania’s automotive program continues | Pennsylvania Institute of Technology

The Volkswagen Owners Club in the Williamsport-Harrisburg region has again funded a scholarship for students of car restoration at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.

This year’s $ 2,000 check was founded in 1992 and has been donated to a scholarship fund since its inception in 2017 by an organization recognized as one of the oldest continuously running VW clubs on the East Coast. Is the 5th time. The Harrisburg Area Community College Volkswagen Awards Owner’s Club Scholarship Fund is aimed at full-time students majoring in Car Repair with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

“Support from HAVOC is essential to obtaining student certificates in auto repair,” said Roy H. Klinger, co-head of collision repair technology and senior faculty member, repair. “Your awareness of our program and the importance of guiding the future workforce in this industry through this scholarship had a huge impact on our students. Over the years, I have been honored to meet the members of yours. “

Klinger was invited by club president Deb Cyrus to a club fall picnic in Fort Hunter Park, Harrisburg, where he was checked and contacted by HAVOC members.

“We have had many fun events over the years and we are proud and honored that the success of the festival show will make a difference in our charitable giving,” said Cyrus.

The first Volkswagen to bring VW enthusiasts together to showcase their cars and celebrate Volkswagen’s role in the automotive industry took place in 1993 at what was then the Harrisburg Autohouse. The event was relocated to the Campbeltown Volunteer Fire Department site in the early 2000s and moved to the Pencil Banar Renaissance Fair in Mount Hope in 2013.

“Pen College is very fortunate to have the Volkswagen Owners Club Harrisburg Area as a partner in the car repair program. With their support, students will improve their repair skills, craftsmanship and detail. We can continue the tradition of respecting beauty, ”said Chris S. McDonald, Assistant Director of Corporate Relations. “Thanks to everyone who stood up for this scholarship.”

Students wishing to apply for either the Harrisburg Area Volkswagen Owners Club Scholarship or the hundreds of Pen College Foundation Scholarships must complete their online application.
