Scottsboro City Schools to receive almost $200K for technology improvements

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Scottsboro City’s school system is receiving nearly $ 200,000 from a grant to provide students with access to technology.

The $ 195,300 scholarship was applied for by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and is expected to benefit 1,000 students in the first year of operation.

The devices will allow all students in grades four through eight to incorporate technology-enabled lessons and stay on distance learning if they choose, through the school’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program.

Students involved in PLTW can participate in hands-on activities and STEM-based opportunities that reflect real-world challenges and today’s workforce.

In addition to the grant, Scottsboro City Schools will provide US $ 83,700 in local funding, bringing the total projects to US $ 279,000.
