Siemens Limited and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) jointly announced the successful use of smart metering technology for over 200,000 smart meters in North Delhi. The state-of-the-art EnergyIP Meter Data Management System, which was installed and commissioned by Siemens, enables the timely and accurate recording of electricity meter data, which leads to better transparency of the consumer network and a reduction in CO2 emissions. The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program is one of Tata Power-DDL’s key strategic initiatives to modernize the network.
This implementation will help consumers with real-time consumption monitoring and better energy management, while also providing them with alerts in the event of outages and low power factor. It will also enable faster failure management. Siemens technologies help Tata Power-DDL achieve its ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) goals in terms of energy efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved safety for employees and the public. Siemens is also working to improve the safety and reliability of the operation of Tata Power-DDL’s critical power systems.
Tata Power-DDL believes that this partnership with Siemens has further strengthened the power distribution network through the use of digital technologies to monitor critical power distribution functions in real time, resulting in greater operational efficiency and productivity, and proven invaluable during the pandemic . According to Siemens, the aim of the partnership is to enable customers to master their challenges in the field of digital transformation and sustainability with the latest technologies. The implementation of AMI is aligned with the national smart meter program and will play a key role in the rollout of smart grids across the country.
