STPUD receives awards for financial and technology excellence | South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California – – The South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) has received two prestigious awards for excellence in financial reporting and technological process.

“Receiving the Finance Award for 26 consecutive years and the IT Award for 9 years is a testament to the expertise and professionalism of our people,” said Paul Hughes, district chief financial officer.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the District’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the year ended June 30, 2019 with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and attaining it is a significant achievement by the district and its management.

The district also received the Excellence in Technology Practices Award from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC). One of only 13 recipients in the entire state of California, the district was recognized for its IT good practice.

The Excellence Award winners represent the IT functions of agencies that are the best of the best. Recipients of this award undergo a detailed and comprehensive review conducted by a team of colleagues from other MISAC member agencies. To receive an award, an agency must demonstrate that it has exceeded industry standards in technology-oriented areas such as: customer satisfaction, budget and strategic planning, purchasing, operations and human resources, professional development and training, disaster preparedness and resolution, policies and procedures, and security.
