Foster grandparents provide critical support to young people in their communities. These volunteers can provide stability and care to children who have been neglected or abused, help with literacy efforts and one-to-one classes, listen to teenagers and new parents, and help care for children with disabilities and premature babies. The South Florida Institute on Aging offers one such program. (Maria Sbytova // Shutterstock)
