LISBON – Those using the District Court’s services will soon find new electronic signage and a digital check-in system to help improve the efficiency of the courts.
County Municipal Court Judge Katelyn Dickey learned last week from Ohio Supreme Court Chairman Maureen O’Connor that the court had been awarded one of the Ohio Supreme Court’s 2021 Technology Grants.
Dickey, who took office in January 2020, filed a grant application in March 2021, requesting $ 15,575 for a project to modernize the courthouse lobby to make it more user-friendly for both staff and the public. Dickey said the project will dramatically improve the functionality of the court for users.
Those arriving to the court can check in at a digital kiosk machine that asks if they are present for a court hearing or an appointment for their probation officer.
The court officials are informed of their arrival by computer.
In addition, the visual log and schedule are shown on a display in the lobby. This allows those who appear in court to see exact times for the hearings. The system is designed to improve case management and the digital check-in system will reduce disruptions to the clerk’s office.
Dickey said she would like to sincerely thank Justice O’Connor, Ohio Supreme Court, and Linda Flickinger, Supreme Court Grant Administrator, for providing the technology funds to the court, Columbiana County residents and other courts Ohio.
