The sun is shining and so is the music of Lorde's third studio album, Solar Power. The New Zealand singer-songwriter has announced that the album will be released on August 20th, and has shared the track list for the album. Lorde has found solace and inspiration in nature, particularly on the beach, and this natural and spiritual feeling will likely be present throughout the solar energy of the album. The music video for Solar Power features Lorde on a beach in a yellow bikini singing the song of the same name.
Additionally, solar energy will be released in an eco-friendly discless CD alternative called “Music Box”, designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the new album. The track list for Solar Power consists of 12 songs, with a 13th being the music video for the lead single. In an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1, Lorde discussed the similarities between Solar Power and Loaded by Primal Scream. Lorde made her grand return earlier this month with the release of “Solar Power” and promised that a new album of the same name would arrive later this year.
She has now revealed the release date and track list for her highly anticipated third studio album. The video includes aerial shots of a crop circle and a beach formation that spell out “SP”, which stands for Solar Power. In her interview with Zane Lowe, Lorde praised Bridgers and Clairo as god-level female vocalists and revealed that Solar Power also includes vocals from some male musicians from New Zealand. She also pointed out how the lead single was released on the same day as the year's only solar eclipse, and encouraged fans to look for clues about the album in nature's calendar.
