WSWHE BOCES will move from hands-on technology to new technology through IBM internship opportunities.

Saratoga Springs, NY (NEWS10) – Warren-Saratoga-Washington-Hamilton-Essex BOCES is still working on getting students to work after a year of remote employment and new challenges. But remote work also plays a role.

WSWHE BOCES is currently working with SUNY Adirondack to bring new opportunities to students. Their Southern Adirondack P-TECH program sends 15 BOCES students to IBM’s P-TECH remote internship program.

These students will be one of 1,000 remote internships to learn specific skills in finance, technology, and life skills.

“Choosing a P-TECH program takes a lot of dedication and effort on your part,” said Kim Wegner, WSWHEBOCES Senior Coordinator. “Getting this internship shows how well the P-TECH curriculum fits into the industry.”

WSWHE BOCES helps students in the northern counties develop trading skills that can lead to job opportunities.

In its Monday release, the BOCES chapter cites data from the World Economic Forum that it could add $ 11.5 trillion to global GDP by bridging existing skill gaps by 2028. He said the opportunity would help fill that void. ..

IBM launched the P-TECH program in 2011 to train high school and community college students across the country.

Obed Louissaint, IBM’s senior vice president of Transformation and Culture, said, “These US-based programs were created to level competition, create business opportunity through skills, and build a country-style technology workforce.”
